Jessicas first Direct Package has arrived!!!!!

I sent this Direct Package out to Jessica on February 1st. It was received by the office on Fenruary 22 and given to Jessica on March 4th. The notes portion on the memo said the following : Jessica could not stop smiling when she received the nice presents from her sponsor. She was very happy with the books and the crayons, because she likes to paint. Her grandmother was with her and said : "I am so grateful to my grandaughter's sponsor, because she makes my child happier with her support. I hope that od bless her always and some day she will be able to visit us."

And Jessicas letter said:
Dear Sponsor,
Hello, how are you? It makes me happy to greet you. Thank you for helping me and for the pretty gift and stickers given. Thanks for the drawings and crayons. I'm going to use them to pain in my coloring book. It's fun to paint. That's my favorite pastime. The barrettes are pretty. I like to wear them. I liked the gloss. It's pretty and I get to wear it to avoid my lips from drying. I'm doing well in school. Thank you for worrying about me. Thank you for everything. God bless you and your family. Goodbye, warm hugs, and kisses. Jessica

How sweet is that. Her and her grandmother seem to really appreciate everything. I feel very close to them.

Prayers for Jostin

I just received the medical report on Jostin I had requested. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Jostin was hospitalized at the time of the report. I'm not sure whether he still is or not. They were waiting to schedule some tests.

Quite a day!

Well first I went to my mailbox and I received some photos from the summer reading package that was sent to Brayan! He is a cute little guy that has yet to smile, but hopefully that will change. He is so young, I don't think he knows what is going on!

I also received an e-mail from Damon who is doing the slideshow story on Jessica for the CI site. He sent me the text part of the story to approve and it is a GREAT story :-) I can't wait to see it together with the slideshow. Be sure to check out the CI website on April 20th for that!

Juana!

This is Juana. My newest sponsor child. She is from rural Guatemala. She is a cutie patootie. She has 3 brothers and lives with her parents. I can't wait to get to know her!

Jessicas house

This is a photo of a model house in Jessica's area. The cost of this house is about $5,780.00. This doesn't include land acquisition or legal fees. This at least gives me an idea of what is needed. I was advised not to ask for the final amount from the field until closer to when money is raised because the costs are always changing. Here is the link for the page:

First letter from Katerine

I received my first letter from Katerine in Guatemala today. I will post what it says below. Katerine is 6, she will be 7 in May. Someone wrote this for her but not sure who. She lives with relatives, and just the other box was checked. I am a bit disappointed as it seems like a form e-mail as opposed to something personal. But hopefully when I get the direct package letter or the special needs one it will be more personal. Anyway here it is :

Dear Sponsor,
I am happy because she was chose as your sponsored child and she prays God to have a sponsor and thanks God you chose her and she thanks you for the benefits she will receive and the ones she already receives and is a nice child and she likes to play and to study and thanks to you she will go on.

Raising $$ for a Accessable House for Jessica

I am starting to raise money for a house or an accessable apartment for Jessica in Ecuador. Her grandmother must carry her up the crooked, cement, uneven stairs to get into their tiny attic apartment. I am told the picture above doesn't really show how bad it is and how uneven it is. Jessica is 11 years old and getting bigger. I am not sure what they will do when her granmother who is tiny can no longer carry her. I am waiting to hear from CI how much it would cost but I am trying to raise money to either get her and her grandmother a house tha would be accessable for Jessica to get in and out of on her own or to beable to pay for rent for somewhere for them to go. Jessicas grandmother only makes about $30/month. As you may already know her mother passed away and her father has disappeared. All that on top of her disability and the child has had it pretty rough. If you can help in any way please use the following link:

I am also working on trying to get some celeb auction/raffle items that I will let you know about when it comes together. I know of 2 things coming in so far.

Lizbeth and her Direct Package!

I sent this to her back in November the day I started sponsoring her! It did not arrive to the Quito office until January 25th! And it was delivered to Lizbeth on Feb 2nd! Her mother was very happy as her message warmed my heart. Here is what Lizbeth wrote:

Dear Lisa,

Hello! I greet you with affection. I thank God that you are my sponsor. I have learned to love you. My school is very pretty. I'm in 4th grade. I want to become a nice teacher to reach little children. It was great to receive your gift. Thank you for the pretty blouse, dolls, stuffed animal, and photos. Thanks to the pretty album I was able to meet you and your family. If you want, I'll send pictures. I'd like you to come to my city Quito. Thank you for the doll you sent to my sister. Please say Hi to Kiara. I hope we can always communicate through letters. Goodbye, all my love,

Lizbeth
